If your family visits Daytona Beach between the end of May and October, you will be sharing the beach with one of the earth's largest living reptiles. Each of the endangered green sea turtles practices a tradition that is thousands of years old, emerging from the night's surf to lay eggs in nests they have dug in the sand. After eight weeks, the hatchlings break through their shells - and quickly crawl into the ocean below. Although the odds of witnessing a turtle hatch are quite low, there is a very good chance you will be able to see the sea turtles nesting, which is a wonderful activity to share with your family.
