With more and more vacationers around the world turning to timeshares for their preferred travel accommodations, the top timeshare brands are making improvements to their existing resorts, building new, and focusing on upcoming attractions near their properties. Here’s just a small glimpse into the world of timeshare news and what to expect in the next few years out of your favorite resort destinations:
In fall of 2019, the DVC’s newest addition, Disney’s Riviera Resort, will be opening at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. It will feature 300 rooms with a variety of unit types, a rooftop restaurant overlooking Epcot and Hollywood Studios, a South of France theme, and other amazing on-site amenities. It’s location right next to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort provides a premier location for getting to all of their favorite attractions. It’s also been announced that Disneyland Paris’ Hotel New York will be receiving a makeover with a Marvel theme with no definitive opening date as of yet.
In addition to the changes that are directly related to Disney Vacation Club members, there are also plenty of updates happening to the iconic theme parks near these resorts. Pixar Pier is set to open June 23, 2018 at Disney California Adventure Park. It will feature four different neighborhoods with themes that reflect the brand’s most famous movies such as A Bug’s Life, Wall-E, Inside Out, The Incredibles, Toy Story, and La Luna. Toy Story will also be front and center for the opening of Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on June 30, 2018. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a group of attractions opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park in 2019 where fans will be transported to their favorite Sci-Fi adventure through games, character interactions, state-of-the-art rides, a full-sized fleet of X-wing star fighters, a life-size Millennium Falcon Starship, and a seamless transition into Disney’s first Star Wars hotel. Epcot at Disney World Resorts will be adding Guardians of the Galaxy and Ratatouille attractions to their lineup, both of which are planned to open in 2021 for the resort’s 50th anniversary. Another update includes Mickey’s and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios set to open in the beginning of 2019.
Wyndham is making waves in the Caribbean with multiple resorts.The brand is set to open its incredible $160 million Wyndham Grand Nevis Resort within North Pointe Resort on Long Haul Bay in St. James Parish, Nevis sometime in 2019. The resort will sit on 30-acres of land with a private beach club, infinity pool, spa, meeting space, and five dining areas. The units themselves will be a combination of 170 suites, condos, and villas ranging from 900-5,100 square feet. Its proximity to the water and all things fun means that vacationers can enjoy their time exploring the island and utilizing local charters and water rentals.
In the famous Nassau, Bahamas, Wyndham’s $250 million, six-acre Margaritaville at the Pointe resort will open its first phase in mid-2019. It will feature 150 guest rooms and 150 oceanfront residences. The residences will be a part of the One Particular Harbour at The Pointe and next to the resort’s spa, water park, and retail space. There are 23 other resort projects in the works for various Margaritaville Vacation Club locations, including Margaritaville Orlando which will have 187 rooms and a waterpark on a 12-acre property set to open in late 2018 and a 217-room, 12-story Margaritaville Nashville Hotel in the city’s “SoBro” district set to open in summer 2019.
After having an incredible year in 2017 opening two new resorts, Hilton Grand Vacations Club continues to expand. HGVC will be opening its first resort in Odawara, Japan, which is just 30 minutes outside of Tokyo in partnership with the Hilton Hotel brand. Hilton Grand will be integrating into the existing Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa which includes current buildings and land for development. In 2021, Hilton Grand will be welcoming yet another resort to Asia on Sesoko Jima Island, Okinawa. The new building will feature 132 timeshare units and 300 hotel rooms operated by Hilton Hotel. Here, you fill find ocean views of the sunset, private balconies, full kitchens, two restaurants, a lounge, a bar, a fitness facility, outdoor and indoor pools, and a beach house.
The Hilton Grand Vacations brand has been working tirelessly to help its owners better understand their timeshares, maximize their points, and utilize them to their full potential. Throughout 2018, they host a number of workshops throughout the country in cities like Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta.
Westgate Resorts News
Westgate plans for the upcoming years revolve around improving their existing resorts. They have been actively working on restoring Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort & Spa which was damaged by recent wildfires. Renovations to their Mountain Top Cabins, New Mountain Top Cabins, Mid Mountain Cabins, Mid Rise Cabins, and Valley Cabins are still underway and appears to be on schedule to be completed by end of 2019. Additionally, Westgate is just over halfway finished with their $14-million updates to their Cocoa Beach resort, Wakulla Suites, which will feature two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominiums, a tropical waterpark with a lazy river and splash pad, and complimentary shuttle to the beloved Cocoa Beach Pier.
Diamond Resorts Latest News
Recently, Diamond Resorts announced its acquisition of Amber Vacation Club, which includes two new resorts to add to their portfolio. Sunrise Ridge Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Alhambra Villas and Alhambra at Poinciana in Kissimmee, Florida will assume operations under Diamond Resorts. They plan on making some small, immediate upgrades to the facilities at Sunrise Ridge and have plans to complete larger renovations to both resorts over time.
The fun doesn’t stop at Diamond Resorts as they and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) announced that the beginning of the 2019 LPGA Tour season will start at Tranquilo Golf Course at Four Seasons Resort Orlando in Lake Buena Vista for the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions. This nationally televised event will take place January 17-20, 2019 and will be wonderful for golf enthusiasts around the world.
Hyatt Residence Club News
Hyatt Residence Club is expanding to open its first resort in Okinawa, Japan and set to open September 1, 2018. Hyatt Residency Seragaki Island Okinawa will be located on its own island with bridge access to mainland. It will have 344 rooms with breathtaking ocean views, decor centered around the rich traditions of Okinawan culture, six restaurants, a private beach, banquet rooms, and much more.
The brand is also currently working on renovations to their Cocoa Plantation Resort in Bonita Springs, Florida. They plan on adding a three-story structure with covered parking on the north side of the property, the fourth addition to their allotted 14 buildings with the city. It will have 24 new units that range from studio to two-bedroom suites and is expected to be completed in late fall of 2018.
