Hawaii Timeshare Industry Adds Billions to Local Economy
November 2nd 2017 Posted by: SellMyTimeshareNow SMTN Category: Industry News, Resorts

According to a recent ARDA study, the Hawaii timeshare industry contributed $5.3 billion in consumer and business spending over the course of 2016. This also included 31,727 local jobs with $1.8 billion in labor income and $263 million in state and local tax revenue.

Mitchell A. Imanaka, ARDA-Hawaii Chairman, commented:

“With 95 resorts and more than 15,000 units, the timeshare industry is an important component of Hawaii’s tourism industry. It accounts for 13 percent of the state’s visitor lodging inventory and has a significant impact in terms of job growth, economic development and consumer spending.”

This report shows what a heavy impact the Hawaii timeshare industry has on the islands and how timeshare travelers are stabilizing the economy. This is because the resorts regularly collect fees for the majority of their units, keeping a consistent flow of money in the local economy.

In terms of owners, 16% of timeshare owners in Hawaii, own a timeshare in Hawaii. This shows that it’s not just out of state visitors that can relish in Hawaiian vacation ownership, but locals are taking advantage of these luxury resorts and services as well. This in turn, helps the local community.
