Tijuana claims to be the "world's most visited border city." And given its convenient location just south of San Diego and the plethora of vacationers that travel here from the United States each year to visit their Mexico timeshares, its estimate may not be far off the mark. Tijuana is often considered a destination for raucous partying and vibrant nightlife. La Avenida Revoluci&oactue;n offers such pleasures with its proliferation of nightclubs, bars, and discotheques.

Wine lovers can revel in the beauty of Baja Norte's Valle de Guadalupe. A counterpart to California's Napa Valley, this region produces up to 90% of Mexico's wines and is home to both small "boutique" vineyards as well as larger producers. Thanks to a cold marine current that produces a Mediterranean-style climate, the Ensenada region does not share the often desert-like landscape that is found elsewhere in Baja Norte.

Other oceanside towns like Playa de Rosarito are also popular among vacationers, offering world-class resort properties. Find beautifully manicured grounds with lush gardens, and resort amenities like expanded units, on-site tennis, and golf privileges at the scenic courses, visitors will have plenty to fill their vacation. Sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California (also known as the Sea of Cortez), the weather in Baja California Norte is enjoyable year round thanks to the cool trade winds. This makes it perfectly comfortable to be outside exploring without being too hot.

While the roads are nicely maintained and highways are easy to navigate, a car is not the most recommended way to get around Baja California if you are unfamiliar with the area. Buses are generally affordable and will get you to the most notable tourist destinations. But if you really want to see the best of Baja California, consider taking a guided taxi tour.
