Hyatt Reservations and Cancellations

Hyatt Residence Club owners have a lot of flexibility when reserving their vacation and some of the most easy-to-use interfaces available, which takes much of the stress out of planning your next adventure.

Luckily, limited resale rules and restrictions mean that those who purchase their Hyatt timeshare on the secondary market can still utilize and follow the same rules as those who bought through the developers.

We'll help you understand how to use the flexibility and freedom that you have with your Hyatt Residence Club vacation ownership. Read below for more information, or complete the form on the right side of the page to get in touch with one of our knowledgeable specialists.

Reserving a Hyatt Residence Club Resort

Reserving a week within the Hyatt Residence Club Resort Group is fairly simple. You first have the option to reserve your vacation at your home resort. You may reserve your entire week, or just a portion. Whatever you have left will automatically be converted into Hyatt points, which can be used to reserve a vacation at any of the Hyatt timeshare resorts. You can make your Hyatt reservation online on Hyatt's membership website.

If you are reserving a vacation using your points, the most important thing to remember is to request your vacation as early as possible. Hyatt fills requests on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are seeking a vacation in a desirable season, make your request early to ensure a high likelihood of booking your vacation.

If you are reserving your week at either your home resort or any resort within the Hyatt Residence Club, there is no reservation fee for the first reservation of the year. For subsequent reservations, there is a nominal fee.

Banking and Borrowing Hyatt Points

The points from your Hyatt Residence Club timeshare may not be enough to reserve a week at the Hyatt Residence Club location you would like to visit. However, you are still able to reserve a week at any Hyatt location—regardless of your current points—by borrowing from your points for the next year.

You can borrow points from your next year provided:

  • Your vacation is within 60 days of the time of your reservation
  • Your maintenance fee for the next year is paid by the time of your reservation
  • You will not reserve a vacation using your home resort week for the next year. You will be able to reserve a vacation using any remaining points you may have

To save your points for a future year, you must first exchange them for points in Interval International’s system. All remaining points at the end of your reservation period will expire. To learn more about exchanging your points for Interval International points, check out our Hyatt timeshare exchange page.

Home Resort Preference Period

During the first 6 months of your reservation period, you have the exclusive right to reserve your vacation for the week and unit which you own. If you do not notify Hyatt during the Home Resort Preference Period that you intend to use your week, it will be released to other club members. If you intend to stay at another Hyatt Residence Club resort, there is nothing you need to do at this time.

Club Use Period

During the latter 6 months of your reservation period, you may reserve your vacation at any available Hyatt Residence Club resort. You may still reserve a vacation at your home resort, but you will no longer have the exclusive right to it. You will be placed lower on the waiting list than those who did reserve a vacation during their Home Resort Preference Period.

Reservation Windows

You can reserve your vacation 12 months before the first day of the week during which you own. During this time, you have the option to reserve at your home resort, reserve at another Hyatt Residence Club resort, or exchange your points through Interval International. Each type of reservation has its own specified time period and limitations.

Limited Club Use Period

After the date of your owned week has passed, you may still use your points to reserve a vacation, provided the start of the vacation is within 60 days of the date of reservation. You have a 6-month period in which to make and use this reservation. If you have unused points at the end of the Limited Club Use Period, the points will expire.

Extended External Exchange Period

To enter the Extended External Exchange Period, you must commit all or some of your points to it at least 4 months prior to your owned week. If you do, then these points are available for you to exchange in Interval International for a 24-month period following your Club Use Period. Your vacation must be reserved and used during this period. Any unused points at the end of the Extended External Exchange Period will expire.

Hyatt Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel a reservation, you will find that the process is as straightforward as the initial reservation. There is a small fee of $49, but you will retain 100% of your points. Your points will be available to make future reservations.

External Exchange Period

As soon as your reservation period opens, you may exchange your points through Interval International. For information on how to exchange through II, see our Interval International page.
