Kalapaki Beach is a 5 minute walk; The mini-mall across the street provides a nice selection of boutique-type shops, souvenir shops, art studios, and restaurants. Banyan Harbor Resort is a 10-minute drive to K-Mart, Wal-Mart, and grocery store, and a 10-minute drive from Lihue Airport. You can also tour the nearby Marriott Resort and Country Club grounds that center the bay/harbor. The Marriott has a bar - Dukes - with a nice waterfall, and seating all around the waterfall and Koi pond. Next to the Marriott is a country club and tennis club with a full golf course. They have beautiful grounds, which you may wander through. Lydgate State Park has an enclosed area for snorkeling - highly recommended! as well as a nice playground for the kids.
