It's location on the island is perfect for sightseeing, from the west/southwest to east/northeast routes. The resort itself sports both year-round residents and timeshare use. It has an outdoor pool, and the units are clean and laid out well (two-story townhouse style). Its location and view of the harbor is also positioned to see the cruise ships arrive. The employees are very helpful and friendly, hosting an orientation on Thursday mornings to help you plan your vacation's activities. Banyan Harbor Resort is a 10-minute drive to K-Mart, Wal-Mart, and grocery store, and a 10-minute drive from Lihue Airport. You can also tour the nearby Marriott Resort and Country Club grounds that center the bay/harbor. The Marriott has a bar - Duke's - with a nice waterfall, and seating all around the waterfall and Koi pond. Next to the Marriott is a country club and tennis club with a full golf course. They have beautiful grounds, which you may wander through. Lydgate State Park has an enclosed area for snorkeling - highly recommended! as well as a nice playground for the kids.
