This membership's homepark is approximately 10 miles from Kalamazoo, in southern Michigan. American Campground is surrounded by the flavor of the country! It offers the convenience of nearby malls, restaurants, shops, and stores. Outdoor enthusiasts will witness nature at its fullest on the famous Kal-Haven Trail, located a mile from the resort. A 30-mile nature walk between Kalamazoo and South Haven, the trail can be enjoyed year-round for walking and hiking in summer and cross-country skiing in winter.

Varies by Resort: Members using the campgrounds and resorts may bring their own recreational vehicles, tents, or other sleeping equipment. They may also book rental accommodations located at the facilities or visit for the day. Our parks feature campsites with electrical, water, and in some cases, sewer connections for RV's, restroom and shower facilities, and recreational amenities. At each campground, a manager and staff provide security, maintenance, and recreational programs that vary by location.

This resort has an adult center, swimming pool, basketball court, bathhouse, beach area, boat dock, children's fishing pond, clubhouse, game room, general store, lake, laundry facilities, picnic area, playfield and playground, snack bar, TV lounge, fishing, horseshoes, paddleboating, and volleyball. The resort is Open year-round, with High-Use Seasonal Period Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Nearby Amenities

The Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum displays rare original and authentic restorations of World War II (some of which still fly), Korean, and Vietnam aircraft. A Curtiss P-40 Flying Tiger and the four Grumman Cats are a part of the exhibit. When the weather permits, flying demonstrations are held daily, May through September. The Kalamazoo Public Museum & Hans Baldauf Planetarium has exhibits dealing with science, history, and technology. Featured are displays of natural and local history, a pioneer room, an Egyptian tomb, and a planetarium with programs for children and adults. A short drive to the west of the resort takes you to Lake Michigan, where you can stroll along a part of the longest freshwater beach in the world. The beach changes drastically from sugar-sand strands to a stretch of rugged, back-to-nature wilderness. The Michigan Maritime Museum at South Haven, on the southwestern Michigan shore, features exhibits that tell the story of "The People Who Built and Used Boats on the Great Lakes."? U.S. Coast Guard exhibits are on display from May through October. Visitors can observe geese, peacock, pheasant, swan, wild duck, and other upland species that inhabit the area at nearby Battle Creek-Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, a Michigan State University experimental facility.
