5 Free Attractions in Las Vegas You Won’t Want to Miss

Las Vegas is known for its glamour, gambling, luxury shopping areas, and the many unique experiences found around every corner. What many people might not realize, however, is that there are many things to do in Las Vegas for free! Here are just a few attractions we think are absolutely worth the visit:

1. The Aquarium at the Silverton Hotel

The Silverton Hotel has a 117,000-gallon aquarium filled with an array of tropical sea life including sharks, sting-rays, and fish. Families love to walk around the tank and spot the many species that live in the reef setting, but its most talked-about feature is the real-life mermaid shows that happen multiple times a day. Thursdays through Sundays, mermaids swim among the fish and interact with guests by taking photos, blowing kisses, dancing, performing stunts, and more. Not only is it a great show for people of all ages, but it’s been said to be a magical experience for children who have the chance to visit.

2. Bellagio’s Fountains and Botanical Gardens

The Bellagio Resort offers two iconic, free activities and we couldn’t pick just one. The Fountains of Bellagio is a massive water show that utilizes music and light to make for an immersive and beautiful experience. The display occurs at the front of the resort every 15-30 minutes depending on the day of the week.

You can also explore the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens while you’re in the area. The 14,000 square-foot space is transformed each season by Horticulture and Engineering teams to encompass inspiring colors, scents, sounds, and sights of different points and celebrations throughout the year.

3. Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden

Just a short drive from the strip is Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden where you can walk through the free, self-guided factor viewing aisle to see chocolatiers and machines create delicious chocolate and how they make their famous handmade brittle. After the tour, you can also explore the property’s three-acre botanical cactus garden which is the largest in Nevada. The garden has over 300 species of plants, many of which are native to the American Southwest, and plenty of walking paths for you to get lost in the great scenery.

4. The Volcano at the Mirage

Similar to the Bellagio Fountains, the Volcano at the Mirage is a short show that can be seen from Las Vegas Boulevard and in front of the resort’s main entrance. Set to a soundtrack created by Mickey Hart from The Grateful Dead and Indian tabla artist Zakir Hussain, this show is filled with explosions, fireballs, smoke, and water features. It runs twice nightly during the week and three times on Friday and Saturday nights. Many suggest showing up at least 15 minutes early to get a good view.

5. Fashion Show Las Vegas

If you find yourself at Fashion Show Mall on a weekend afternoon, you can enjoy more than just phenomenal shopping at over 250 retailers and eight department stores. The mall is widely known for hosting runway shows on its retractable runway with LED screens and advanced lighting features. You don’t need to reserve your spot, you just need to show up at the right time to see models wear some of the latest fashions of the stores you’re visiting during your stay. These shows occur Friday through Sunday from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM.
