Spotlight: Canada Travel
July 12th 2016 Posted by: SellMyTimeshareNow SMTN Category: Travel

July 1, 1867, a day now known as “Canada Day.” A day when the Constitution Act joined three provinces into one country: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Canada province (which then split into Ontario and Quebec). While this was a greatly historic day, it wasn’t a truly recognized or celebrated holiday until 1982—when Canada was completely independent of England.

Canada travel is a great way to get outside the US and experience a new and unique culture without having to go too far. Home to vibrant cities such as Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, and Québec City, there are also many “lesser known” destinations that make up this great country.

In celebration of Canadian culture and all it offers travelers and tourists alike, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite destinations and resorts so you can travel Canada affordably and enjoyably.

Barrie

Known as the adventure capital of Ontario, this beautiful vacation hotspot offers vacation opportunities for all ages and easy access to Kempenfelt Bay on Lake Simcoe. Whether you want a romantic retreat indoors or an active family excursion, you’ll find it all in Barrie.

Things to do

With over 300 hectares (741 acres!) of park space, hundreds of kilometers (thousands of meters!) of hiking and biking trails, Barrie provides plenty of opportunities to get out and explore during the summer months. Some of the summer festivals include outdoor moving viewing for the family, a blueberry pancake festival, and a craft beer and food event.

You’ll have access to plenty of water sports such as boating, fishing, and kayaking. On a rainy day, go bowling, play indoor mini golf, or paint some pottery with the kids. Adults will love the three different breweries to tour, the rich live theater, golf, and art galleries.

Our favorite resorts

Collingwood

Recognized many times as a world-class touring destination, Collingwood is perfectly located between the ski hills of the Niagara Escarpment, and the shores of the Georgian Bay. With four seasons worth of activities to discover, you’ll love vacationing here time and time again.

Things to do

Visit Collingwood’s historic Downtown Heritage Conservation District. There you will find a fun variety of boutiques, services, and tasty eateries. You will also find a wide variety of parks on and off the water for your fill of the great outdoors. Collingwood is also rich with art and culture. You’ll find public art around the streets, live painting events, and street performers everywhere you look.

The Collingwood Elvis Festival is a well known event that will take place this year from July 20th to July 25th. This lively rock and roll event is recognized and endorsed by Graceland and Priscilla Presley, herself! Enjoy some of the best tribute artists from across the world and dance the day away.

Our favorite resorts

Whistler

Just two hours north of Vancouver and located in the beautiful Coast Mountains of British Columbia, you will discover this fantastic vacation destination. The diverse location of Whistler features endless activities for any and all interests and serves as an incredible year-round hotspot.

Things to do

You’ll find it easy to fill up your vacation itinerary with all there is to experience in beautiful Whistler. Discover four championship golf courses, fun shopping opportunities, hiking trails on the majestic mountains, spa treatments, and one of the top mountain bike parks in the world.

Summer in Whistler brings lots of green and lots of outdoor fun. Ride the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola and see the world from above, cool off at one of the lake parks, ride the zipline, or even spot a bear on a local viewing tour.
