As a consequence of this week #52 Vacation Village timeshare being the last week of the year (typically it starts on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year's day) there is occasionally an opportunity to extend it to what is sometimes called "week 53". The way this works is as follows: every 365-day year consists of 52 weeks plus a day, and every Leap Year has two extra days. These extra days accumulate over five or six years to equal an extra week; namely, “week 53”. Holders of week 52 at Vacation Village are entitled to request week 53 at the time they pay for their maintenance fee.
