The deed is for a two bedroom lockout in week 13 (in March) and there is no booking fee for that week. You can book your vacation for any time of year, up to 10 months in advance.
The booking fee is $39 whether you book:
* a one bedroom unit for 14 consecutive days,
* a one bedroom unit for a week or
* a two bedroom unit for a week.
This property is for a 2 bedroom lockout. Each side has a bathroom, full kitchen & living room with one side being more spacious.
When you pay the yearly maintenance fees (due April 15th), you get 92,000 RCI points which are valid for 2 years. Calypso Cay resort functions with RCI points and as an owner you can choose an RCI account. The 92,000 points for 2021 are valid until end of Feb 2020.
To book weeks at the resort or elsewhere (see later on) these RCI points are used. A one bedroom unit at Calypso resort for a week costs around 32,000 to 40,000 points in October, between 41,000 and 51,000 points in April, May or July.
We have just paid the maintenance fees for 2021 which gives us 92,000 points valid until the end of Feb 2020. This total 92,000 + 78,500 will be transferred with the ownership of the unit.
What if you do not want to go to Orlando for your vacation?
Your ownership comes with a membership with RCI which gives you access to numerous resorts round US and the world. For example, we spent a week in Paris, France in October 2017 using some of our points.
Typically a 1 bedroom unit books for 16,000 (on the Atlantic in January) to 46,000 points depending on location and time of year. There is an 'exchange' fee of $239 for staying in a resort different from your home resort.
The transfer of deeds will be your cost. As we have paid the maintenance fee for 2021 and not used any of those points, we will ask you to pay this fee back to us for the use of those points plus the unused points from the year before.
This ownership is no longer attractive to us as our kids no longer live in South Florida or close where the resorts tend to be.
