Kauai’s Royal Coconut Coast is about to get a much deserved makeover. Four resorts on Kauai’s famed East Side are investing over $12.5 million in renovations, including improvements to its rooms, grounds, and buildings.

Since 2012, the cost of total renovation investments by the Coconut Coast Resort Association will now approach $43 million, with $9 million spent in 2014 and a combined $20 million spent in 2012 and 2013.

What to Expect from Renovations

The Pono Kai Resort, an oceanfront property on the Royal Coconut Coast, has seen the largest investment at $7.9 million. The project, which started in 2015 and will be completed by 2020, works towards completely renovating 146 condominium units with entire kitchen and bathroom remodels, new furnishings, cabinets, counter tops, fixtures, decor, and new bedding.

Starting in the third quarter of 2017, Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy, another oceanfront resort, will be launching renovations for 108 units, which will hopefully conclude by the year’s end. The resort is spending $4 million on new paint, fixtures, furnishings, decor, flooring, bathroom upgrades, new beds, and bedding. Castle’s Kaha Lani will acquire new paint and repairs and Kauai Shores Hotel will construct new outdoor recreational facilities to round out expenditures at $12.5 million in total.

Why Renovations?

The Royal Coconut Coast Association is financing the renovations of these four resorts in order to maintain the area’s impressive reputation of hotel, condominiums, timeshares, and vacation rentals that offer top-notch accommodations at affordable rates. With these new upgrades, these Royal Coconut Coast resorts will compete with the other more high-end properties in other Hawaiian resort destinations.

The Royal Coconut Coast Region is located in Kauai between the towns of Wailua and Kapaa. The region features beautiful natural and manmade attractions such as the famous Wailua River, six beach parks, and numerous restaurants and shops. Kauai is a pedestrian town, with a lot of the local attractions accessible on foot or on bike.
