Disney World Construction Updates to Help Plan Your 2022 Vacation

The Disney World parks are constantly being updated and improved to offer the best and most magical experience for your family getaway. However, these updates involve construction that could potentially disrupt your trip. Before planning a 2022 Disney vacation, be sure to keep an eye on the Disney World construction updates so you can ensure you can access all your favorite rides and attractions.

Here are some of the most notable Disney World construction updates to consider when making your vacation reservations.

Epcot Construction

Epcot is one of the most popular parks for kids and adults alike and is always a must-visit during your Disney vacation.

Currently, the middle of World Celebration is a giant construction zone. They are working to build the Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana attraction. Structures to form this incredible attraction are being added weekly. With crews working daily, things will be moving along to hopefully open the attraction in the near future.

When inside Epcot, keep in mind that the restrooms on the World Nature side of the park are currently blocked by construction. However you’ll find plenty of other options inside The Land Pavilion, inside The Seas Pavilion, and by Journey Into Imagination with Figment.

There is also construction happening over at the World Showcase, with pavilions in Japan and Germany being worked on. Both are still open to foot traffic so you don’t have to worry about disruption during your time in these areas. A construction wall blocks part of the pathway by the train village in the Germany Pavilion. The village is still visible from the front or on the sides, but the main walkway is being updated. However, the trains are still running!

Construction at Hollywood Studios

There’s not too much happening at Hollywood Studios, but fans of the Toy Story Mania ride will notice that the exit of the ride looks a little different. The gift shop you usually walk through while leaving the ride is being worked on, so you will be directed out through a side door instead.

The Jessie’s Trading Post gift shop will be coming to the Toy Story Land soon, but it hasn’t been made clear if this will be replacing the one at the exit of Toy Story Mania or if it is a separate shop.

Magic Kingdom Construction

There is a lot of hype and excitement built up on the newest ride to come to the Magic Kingdom: the TRON coaster. Much of the equipment has officially been dropped in the middle of the construction zone, so guests are hopeful that there will be big changes coming in preparation for the opening of the ride.

Right next to this, construction is still happening by Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.. The outside of this store is currently blocked by the construction walls.

Disney Resort Construction

We’ve previously provided updates on the Grand Floridian renovations, but we can now officially say that the first of the new DVC Resort Studio rooms in the old Big Pine Key Building will be available for check-in dates beginning June 20, 2022. However, it is not known if construction will be fully finished on this date or if all of the rooms will be done.
