The cost of a timeshare unit is divided between multiple owners, thereby making it possible for owners to vacation at an elegant resort for far less money than it would cost to purchase a unit outright, lease a property, or rent a hotel room for an extended period of time or on an annual basis. Timeshares also make available the option to exchange time at an owner's given resort for time at other resort locations around the world.
