Matamoros, Mexico, is only about five miles away. The beaches of South Padre Island are twenty-five miles away. Deep sea and bay fishing are available from both South Padre Island and Port Isabel, about twenty miles away. South Texas is one of the premier birding areas in the United States. The adjacent Valley International Country Club offers 18 and 9 hole courses. Guests may use the dining, pool, wellness center, and golf facilities for reasonable usage fees.

(Unit Accommodations: "If the unit is in the 800 series, it is 850 square feet in size and has 2 BRs/1 Bath. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and the 2nd bedroom has a trundle bed. The units in the 600, 700 and 1100 series buildings are 1,150 square feet in size and have 2 BRs/2 Baths. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and the 2nd BR has twin beds. All units have a sleeper sofa in the living room. The resort has 2 floors. It does not have any elevators. Unit numbers ending in an odd number are downstairs; unit numbers ending in an even number are located upstairs. If you are in need of a downstairs unit, you must contact RCI and make arrangements through them. The resort cannot switch guests from an unassigned unit to another unit.")
