How to Plan a Stress-Free Vacation
April 7th 2016 Posted by: SellMyTimeshareNow SMTN Category: Travel

April is Stress Awareness Month, and in light of that fact we’re thinking a lot about how we can destress in our everyday life. It’s a known fact that vacations can relieve stress, but did you also know they can induce stress? That doesn’t seem fair, but it’s true! Planning, spending, scheduling, and just travel in general can cause more stress than any work crisis ever could. But fear not, there is a better way!

We’ve come up with a list of some things you can do to enjoy a truly stress-free vacation. You might read this list and think, “these aren’t earth shattering ideas!” But they are things people often don’t think about before planning a trip! Take a deep breath, and get ready to destress with a relaxing getaway.

1. Research Your Destination

Choosing a destination with a family of people who may clash on travel interests can be tough. Before you even start looking at flights and hotels, research destinations that offer the most attractions and activities for all members of your family.

Some destinations we would recommend include the ever popular Orlando, FL, Ocean City, MD, and Lake Tahoe, CA, and Honolulu, HI. These destinations, all very unique, offer a wide range of local attractions that will please a wide range of people and ages. From theme parks and boardwalks, to hiking trails and sandy beaches, one of these locations is bound to please even the most diverse family.

2. Set a Comfortable, Realistic Budget

Money for flights, accommodations, and food can add up fast—especially for a big family getaway. Don’t strain your wallet over vacation, or else you won’t be able to relax at all. When planning, make sure you plan your spending so that you are able to have a fun getaway without going broke. Things that will help you save money include:

  • Booking an all inclusive vacation. That way, you don’t have to worry about every dollar you spend while you’re away…the bulk of things you’ll need are included.
  • Find last minute deals. This is tough when you’re trying to plan ahead…but if you’re feeling spontaneous, you can save big on a last minute accommodations or flight deal.
  • Stay in a timeshare rental. Timeshares offer more space, and amenities such as full kitchens and laundry to make your vacation more convenient. And you don’t even need to be an owner to stay in one!

3. Make Time for Downtime

Often times, families try to pack all they can into their special trip to ensure they experience the most they possibly can. This is never the way to go. Make a list ahead of time of the things you definitely want to do and see, and then narrow it down to one or two big activities a day—and preferably at least one full day of doing nothing. If you overbook yourself, you’ll end up being too worn out and cranky to even enjoy the activities you so carefully planned.

There is nothing wrong with spending a day relaxing at the resort. There are often times a plethora of activities so that everyone can do their own thing. Mom and dad can kick back at the pool or beach, while the more energetic ones play in the game room, or participate in a kids club. The less you are worried about getting certain places at certain times, the more you will be able to enjoy your vacation free of stress.

4. Be Flexible

All you control freaks out there, listen to us, not everything will go as planned on your vacation, and that’s okay! Flights get delayed, the weather changes by the hour, the restaurant you were dying to eat at has a 3 hour wait—vacations are notoriously unpredictable. You can’t plan it all, so remind yourself before leaving to take a deep breath and go with the flow. If something doesn’t work out, it’s not the end of the world. Find something else that works for everyone and stress no more.

5. Choose Accommodations that Offer More

A lot of these stress-free vacation solutions we’ve covered above involve the luxury that is a timeshare resort. Timeshare resorts offer fabulous amenities, large and comfortable suites, and affordable rates.

On-site amenities allow you to kick back at the resort without feeling bored or that you’re missing out on something better. These resorts often have pools, kids clubs, basketball and tennis courts, spas, and game rooms.

Large, multi-bedroom suites let everyone have more space to unwind. You will also feel more at home with the ability to cook in a full kitchen, have multiple bathrooms (and waste less time waiting), and be able to sit in the living room and watch TV after the kids have fallen asleep.

Timeshares, and especially timeshare rentals, are more affordable than you might think.
