Treat the Family and Save Money on a Disney Vacation

The kids are nearly out of school and what do they want to do this summer? Go to Disney, of course! But Disney is expensive—all the park tickets, meals out, and family-friendly accommodations can really add up. At SellMyTimeshareNow.com, we love to save money while still enjoying fantastic travel experiences, and we know you do too! So here we’ve got some tips to help you to save money on a Disney vacation and give your family the trip of a lifetime!

How to Save Money on a Disney Vacation

The trick to saving money on a Disney vacation is planning ahead. But spending that extra bit of time planning for your trip and your expenses will save you a lot in the long run. Plus, once you’re there, you will be able to relax and just have fun knowing you’ve planned a trip that didn’t break the bank.

1. Find Park and Ticket Discounts

You can start the savings process by pre-purchasing Disney gift cards for any general expenses you’ll have while visiting the parks. These gift cards can be found at membership-based stores like TargetRed, Sam’s Club, and CostCo. This means you’ll also get a discount on the purchase of the gift card, giving you some free cash to use.

Ticket prices themselves recently went up again, but if you are looking to vacation this summer, you can still take advantage of last season’s rates by purchasing through a reputable third-party seller. You can utilize this Disney World Ticket Calculator to compare various authorized Disney ticket resellers to find the best price.

Additionally, military, teachers, and AAA members are offered regular discounts for Disney World and Disneyland tickets.

2. Pre-Plan Your Dining

It’s no secret that buying snacks, meals, and even bottles of water in the parks is incredibly pricey. Some forward thinking can help you big time when you want to save money on a Disney vacation. For example, eat breakfast in your suite before you leave for the parks. Bring granola bars and other small snacks in your bag for when you need a quick pick me up. If you eat lunch at the park, maybe make dinner back at your suite.

The Disney Dining Plan can also save you a good chunk of money, but be sure to pick the right one to fit your specific family and vacation needs. There are three types of plans: Quick-Service, Dining, and Deluxe Dining. These allow you to pre-pay for quick-service and table-service meals at the Disney World parks. Be sure to take a closer look at the offerings of these plans to make sure they are worth the money.

3. Find Complimentary Transportation Methods

Daily parking is $25 for standard vehicles at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World parks. If you plan on spending multiple days at these parks, that is going to add up quickly. Luckily, many nearby accommodations offer free shuttles or monorail access. Be sure to take advantage of these as an easy way to save.

If you like the flexibility of having your car nearby, parking at Downtown Disney is free for 3 hours with a $20 purchase and validation from a Downtown Disney location, or free for five hours with validation from a Downtown Disney table-service restaurant.

4. Stay in a DVC Timeshare Resale or Rental

One of the biggest ways to save on a Disney vacation is booking affordable accommodations. But we don’t think you should settle. That’s why we can’t recommend buying or renting a Disney Vacation Club timeshare highly enough. These spacious, family-friendly accommodations offer prime access to the parks, magical on-site amenities, and much more—all for less per night than average area hotels.

Get the full Disney experience with accommodations that offer full kitchens (to further save on dining costs), laundry machines, private bedrooms, living and dining rooms, and more. You’ll enjoy all the comforts of home with the added luxuries of an upscale resort. Without even leaving the property you can find swimming pools, children’s activities, character dining, fitness centers, and much more.

Shop our inventory of by-owner advertised Disney Vacation Club timeshares for sale for a lifetime of fun Disney getaways, or our Disney Vacation Club timeshares for rent for a one-time, low-cost, summer 2019 vacation experience. Either way, you’ll save thousands!
