About SVC Points

With 24 vacation resorts throughout North America, a flexible ownership program and its customer-centered approach to resort hospitality, Shell Vacations Club is committed to providing unrivaled getaways to each of its members and resort guests. And although SVC boasts more than 115,000 owners and members, Shell Vacations treats every member as if he or she is the only member.

SVC is a points-based ownership program. To become an SVC member, new owners must purchase a points package from one the four Shell Owners Clubs (also known as Home Clubs) which each contain a set of unique luxury resorts:

How it works:
Home Club membership automatically entitles you to a Shell Vacations Club membership. (Think of SVC as an internal exchange and reservation system.)

Shell Owners Club members receive an annual allotment of SVC Points. You redeem your points for accommodations. Every night at each Shell Vacations Club Resort is assigned a points value based on season, size of unit, and a variety of other factors.

At the resorts within your Home Club, you enjoy the privilege of priority booking. You can request reservations for a seven night stay as far in advance as 365 days (about 1 year) to 277 days (about 9 months) before your check-in date.

Outside your Owners Club network, you can request reservations at ANY Shell Vacations Resort for a stay of 2 nights or more up to 276 days (about 9 months) in advance of your desired check-in date.

But the benefits don’t end there. Memberships (including those sold on the resale market) also include an annual membership with Interval International, giving you access to an external exchange program that includes over 2,600 additional resorts in over 75 nations around the world.

Understanding SVC Resale Ownership

While there aren’t many differences between purchasing resale and buying directly from Shell Vacations Club, there are a few important factors to consider.

New buyers must purchase a minimum of 1,500 points within a single Home Club to be eligible for membership.
Current owners who want to add points to their existing allotment, can purchase additional points in any increment.

Points purchased on the resale market are eligible for the following benefits:

SVC Collections
This program allows you to "spend" your Shell Vacations Points like currency for other travel perks including cruises, air travel, golf, skiing, dining, spa services and more.
SVC Premium Perks
From travel insurance to a discount program to a credit card that allows you to earn vacation stays at Shell Vacations Club Resorts, these additional perks allow you to make the most of your SVC membership.
II Exchanges
Use your SVC Points to exchange to more than 2,600 additional resorts.

Shell Vacations Club Points purchased on the resale market are NOT eligible for the following programs:

SVCLifestyles
An optional program that allows members to access additional hotels, activities, events and leisure experiences while and vacation and close to home.
SVC Elite®
Designed for those who want to be treated like a VIP, this program offers perks including an exclusive reservation line, waived transaction fees, express check-out, accommodation upgrades and more. Requires a minimum membership level of 15,000 points.

Becoming an SVC Member — Tips for New Buyers

Purchase within the Home Club that contains the resorts you are likely to visit regularly. That way you will have the advantage of early booking each year.

Be sure you know what you are buying. Within Shell Vacations Club, there are two types of points-based memberships available: Permanent (no expiration date) and Standard (with an expiration date). Within SVC Americana, SVC West and SVC Pacific, all memberships sold are Permanent. If you are buying into Shell Owners Club Hawaii, the membership can be Permanent OR Standard.

Be sure you purchase enough SVC Points to get the vacations you deserve. Owners can sell their Shell Vacations Points in any increment on the resale market, but you need a minimum of 1,500 points to qualify for Shell Owners Club and SVC memberships. Additionally, nightly rates at resorts vary widely, so be sure you have enough points to reserve the nights and weeks you really want.
